Migraine Headache Care

Migraine Care Program

Studies have shown, “The longer a person stays on Migraine medications, the worse the Migraines become and the stronger the medications needed”. Dr. Hoang offers a complete, all natural, non surgical in office program for treating Migraine headaches,TMJ problems and related symptoms such as Migraine Headaches and tension/muscle related headaches, jaw pain, bruxism (clenching and teeth grinding), tinnitus(ringing in the ears possibly from neck pain, clenching and teeth grinding), and jaw pain. We offer a complete in office service which may include the following: Trigger point therapy, massage therapy, ultrasound,
*Computer Evaluation of head/neck/biting forces and their relationship to healthy muscle and joint positioning, as well outstanding home products and home painless microcurrent and
*Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES) for gentle healing of muscles and joints that brings relief to these trigger zones, thereby decreasing the stimulation of the Trigeminal nerve that triggers Migraine Headaches. Splints(bite guards/night guards) may also be used to help maintain proper physiological positioning of muscles and joints and occlusion. We include complete easy to follow directions and support for all our services.

*Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES), FDA approved and clinically proven. Alpha-Stim delivers a dose of micro current that is almost undetectable. These “micro-currents” attempt to mimic the body’s own natural electrical functions. “Patients with treatment-resistant depression and Migraines have shown significant elevations in plasma serotonin.” University of Miami’s School of Medicine quotes, “Increases in cerebrospinal fluid level of beta-endorphins up to 219%, plasma endorphins up to 98%, and cerebrospinal fluid serotonin up to 200% have been demonstrated in normal volunteers receiving 20 minutes of CES.” All of these improvements in brain chemistry are necessary for upper body health. Also good for
treating anxiety, insomnia and depression.

Interestingly, Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation is actually very safe compared to most medication. It has almost no side effects and can be used for any age group.

There are approximately 7-8 trigger point locations on each side of the upper torso (top of head to shoulders). They are located on the shoulders, cheek muscles, back of the head, temples and forehead.

These points cause the following condition: These trigger point locations keep the muscles and joints in a tight/tense mode day and night. They are aggrevated by the occlusion (bite) which is not able to come together properly and further disturbs the musculature. This sets off signals to the Trigeminal nerve, which innervates these muscles, and triggers the migraine headaches. Since these muscles and joints are typically in this unhealthy state, the migraines can almost seem endless. All of this may also be part of a TMD condition.

I have worked with neurologists, psychologists, chiropractors, physical therapists, attorneys (as an expert witness and in the treatment of accident cases) as well as natural health practitioners. Because of the multifaceted experience I have gained in this field, I bring a unique ability to my patients.

The object of my treatment is to gently and naturally bring the head, neck, jaw and occlusion (bite) into a balanced alignment. Thereby eliminating the trigger point problem areas and bringing the upper torso into a neuromuscular balanced position.

migraineAdvanced Computer Migraine/TMJ Functional Analysis

For years, dental chewing forces had been largely a matter of guesswork for dentists. Articulation paper, waxes, pressure indicator paste, etc. were all dentists had to assess and balance chewing forces. Most of these methods are not sensitive enough to detect the delicate relationship between chewing forces and the affect that unbalanced forces can have on the muscles and joints of the head and neck. Tekscan met the challenge by developing the T-Scan’s grid-based sensor technology as used by Dr. Hoang.
